Study livestock and agriculture in Japan! Students will have an opportunity to meet with the US Grains Council, US Meat Export Federation, US Embassy, and the National Animal Health Institute while also interacting with significant companies such as Global Pig. Students will be immersed in cultural and educational opportunities while interacting with influential people to learn how agriculture production and trade are conducted in Japan.

At the end of the program, students will:

  • Describe the process of exporting/importing food
  • Communicate the challenges and opportunities for livestock agriculture in other countries
  • Describe how other countries are handling current foreign animal diseases such as classical and African swine fever
  • Discuss how customs and culture can influence consumer demand and livestock agriculture practice

This program is typically offered every other year, with the program last traveling in spring 2024.
