In the ISU EARTH Program, undergraduate students will learn about the culture of the people of the Caribbean and U.S. Virgin Islands’ agriculture and ecosystems, while participating in service-learning activities focused on a variety of topics in environmental science, horticulture, sustainability, soil science, culinary science, education and communication, and more!

The summer program duration is approximately 6 weeks. 

Program Courses include:

  • Required pre-departure seminar on campus leading up to the trip
  • Hort or Globe 494B: 1-3 Credits for service learning course
  • Globe 494C: U.S. Diversity course for 3 Credits 

There is also the potential to take ISU online courses while on the island and earn credit for internship experiences (Hort 398, GLOBE 321, NREM 104, etc.)

This program is offered every year at Iowa State's Fork in the Road satellite campus in St. John, U.S.V.I. For more information, please contact the program directors or a study abroad advisor!
